Windows Share archiving: permitted characters for password

Postby Belinda Frick » Mon Jul 18, 2016 10:15 am

Please note that you cannot use the follow characters as part of the Windows Share password:

! (exclamation mark)
` (accent)
\/ (back or forward slash)
' (single quotes)
" (double quotes)

These are all characters that the bash scripts uses for interpreting information.
!@#$%^&*()_+=-[]{};'"\|,<.>/?~:

Therefore all characters listed above may not be used as part of the Windows Share password.

If you require a complex password use a combination of upper and lower case as well as alphabetic and numeric characters.
