How do I 'fix' an AMETHYST 1.5 database?

Postby Belinda Frick » Wed Nov 17, 2010 2:55 pm

Overview:

You can use the 'Reclaim Database Space' option to:
  • Fix a damaged database.
  • Re-index the database (if it is for example slow).
  • Reduce the physical size of the database (if you require space).
You will require 3 times the size of the database space available to run it.
To view the database size log into AMETHYST webadmin,
AMETHYST 1.6: Click on the 'Available Disk Space' link.
AMETHYST 1.5: select the Settings page and click on the 'Available Disk Space' link.
It will display the database drive and space used aswell as available.
Steps:

You MUST stop the following services while doing a 'Reclaim Database Space'
Stop the Sweeper,
Stop Supervisor,
Stop SMDRLink and Getset.

In AMETHYST webadmin -> Settings Page, you will find the links to do the stops.

In the AMETHYST Web Admin under the 'Home Page' menu there is an option 'Configure Auto Purge'.
The button 'Reclaim Database Space' will do a backup and restore of the database.

You MUST start the following services when 'Reclaim Database Space' completed:
Start the Sweeper,
Start Supervisor,
Start SMDRLink and Getset.

In AMETHYST webadmin -> Settings Page, you will find the links to do the starts.

Please note:

You will not be able to access AMETHYST Administrator and the above programs while the 'Reclaim Database Space' is running.

It is advised to do a 'Reclaim Database Space' after hours.
