How do AMETHYST server know that the AMTCards is running?

Postby Belinda Frick » Thu Nov 18, 2010 12:01 pm

Herewith explanation of how AMETHYST check if the Cardserver
is recording:

All configured cardservers receive a special ping message (S:PING)
in addition to all the user pings. The AMTCards service is pinged.
This happens every 5 minutes. They must respond with a certain
message (CARDREPLY). If there has been no response from a
cardserver for 5 minutes, a critical warning e-mail is scheduled
to be sent. This will send within 10 minutes of being scheduled.
After that, there is an e-mail once a day, occurring 24 hours
and approx. 10 minutes after the last one.

An example of the critical e-mail text is:
2008-06-18 15:56:19 Cardserver(192.168.15.96) is not responding to
Amethyst server

Please check if you have this entry in the server log. If present
and unable to send, AMETHYST will log a SMTP mail error in the log.
If no SMTP error, it was possibly block on route to the destination
(network route, internet, e-mail setup).
