How do I teach USBClient 1.6 / ONYX2?

Postby Belinda Frick » Thu Nov 18, 2010 12:53 pm

The TEACH function is to set the VAD (Voice Activation Detection) on the recording software. The recording software uses VAD to determine when to start (and to stop) recording a call.

  • Please ensure that you are running the latest version of the recording software. You should be running at least version 2.0.1.15 of ONYX2 or version 1.6.1.2 of USBClient.

    • ONYX2:
Download the ONYX2 upgrade/install file below:
      onx-onyx-upgrade-install-2_0_1_15.rar

      - Once ONYX2 software is installed/upgraded, click on the 'Settings' icon,
      - To set the trigger level (VAD value), pick up the handset of the phone, wait for the tone.
      - Click on the 'Teach' button.
    • USBClient 1.6:

      - Right-click on the USBClient icon (purple headset),
      - Pick up the handset and wait for the tone/line,
      - Select the "TEACH" option when you hear the tone on the phone.

  • Once you hear the tone, speak clearly into the phone just like on a normal phone call (reading the information displayed on the ONYX2/USBClient software),
  • Keep talking until the software returns a value (trigger level) and only thereafter you may close the TEACH option.

To ensure the software will trigger/start recording correctly, you can also configure the following trigger-on options:

ONYX2:

In ONYX2 - Settings, under the Section 'Start recording on (Trigger)', select one of the following:
    - Microphone (you talking)
    - Speaker(other person talking)
    - Combination

USBCLIENT 1.6:

The trigger-on is set in the usbclient.ini file with the USERIGHT entry. The 0 and 1 value represents microphone or speaker.

    USBClient.ini
    Code: Select all
    USERIGHT=1

NB: To change the settings in the INI, close the USBClient interface and stop the USBClient service (under Control Panel).

Note: If you set the trigger to speaker and the phone rings and you pick it up, it could start recording on pick up. This is because the 'line' is open. It should however not record before pickup.

NOTE: To have access to the attachment/s, you need to be registered and logged in.
