Mitel SRC recording:Activating and adding SRC Licenses

Postby Belinda Frick » Thu Nov 18, 2010 1:55 pm

The Mitel Secure Recording Connector (SRC) is a module of the Mitel Border Gateway (MBG) that acts as a gateway between the phone and the Mitel controller. The SRC sends a copy of the voice streams to the Client recording Equipment (CRE) that handles the recording of the call. The SRC is licensed for maximum concurrent calls that must be recorded.
E.g. You have 50 phones and you buy 20 SRC licenses. Only the first 20 concurrent conversations will be recorded, the 21st call that takes place will not be recorded. As soon as one of the first 20 calls completes, the SRC licenses is freed up and the next call can then be recorded.
This solution records internal calls.

Loading the SRC/ MBG for the first time:
To Load the SRC for the first time, you need to login to the MSL. Open your Web browser and enter the IP of the MSL server. Login with your login and password.

Click on Status on the left hand side.

It will ask for an Service ID if it has not been configured already.
Enter the the Mitel Application Record ID (ARI) that contains the MBG and SRC.
Please note that the MBG with SRC must have it's own ARI, it will not be the same as the Mitel ICP ID. If there are multiple Servers, each server has its own ARI.

Click on APPLY/ACTIVATE

It will say 'Please wait' while synchronizing with Mitel's site online. The
server must connect to sync.mitel-amc.com on TCP port 22 on the Internet otherwise it will not sync.
Please ensure the required access is in place.

  1. Click on 'Blades ' on the left side of the page.
  2. Click on the 'Update List' button to allow the server to retrieve the list of blades that is linked to the ARI.
  3. If it Synced properly and the ARI has been configured properly, the Blades page will show a MBG or SRC blade to download.
  4. Click on the Install link next to the Secure Recording Connector to start the download. (The download is also through the TCP port 22)
  5. You will have to accept the license agreement. Once done, the SRC will start installing. The download time will depend on your Internet speed.
It will show the download/install progress under 'ProgressOverview'.

Note that the SRC and MBG require specific versions of the MSL to be able to install and Sync properly. Please ensure that you confirm this information with your Mitel supplier if you are going to do this yourself.

Once it has completed, you screen should look something like this:

If any error messages supply error code and/or screenshot to support.
Please note errors at this stage will most likely be firewall/access
related and the client's IT department needs to be involved. Datatex
support can only make suggestion, but do not have the access to make
any changes onsite.

To update/add new SRC licenses:
The new SRC licenses has to be purchased from your Mitel Dealer and then loaded on the correct ARI for the SRC server.

Your need to ensure that the server has Internet access (outbound TCP port 22) to allow the server to sync with Mitel. If the server has permanent access it should automatically sync, since the server syncs with Mitel's online servers at least once a day.

To manually force a sync, Click on "Status' and then click the 'Sync' button.

Once the server syncs with Mitel it will install any new licenses and they will immediately be available to use.
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.
