How do I automatically import the Phone book into TNG

  • Create the import file with phone numbers and details:

On the PC where TNG is installed, in the TNG folder, there is an import folder.
      Windows - C:\Program Files\Datatex\TNG\import\
      Linux - /opt/datatex/tng/import/
In this folder you need to create a file called "phonebook.txt".
Within this file you add your phone book entries in exactly the same format you would use for a manual import.

    Here is the format:

The values are listed in the following order separated by commas. Do not use commas in the names or descriptions:

Number (This is a compulsory field)
Description (This is a compulsory field)
Category ( for example Suppliers, Customers etc )
Private Call ( valid values are True or False )
    Contents of phonebook.txt

    Code: Select all
    0847121234,ABC Company,Suppliers,False
    0824121234,Mr A Williams,Customers,False
    0837411234,Nico Smith,Nicci Family,True
    eof

On the last line you must have the word "eof" to show that the file is complete.
The import will not start until the "eof" is in the file and the file is saved.
    NOTE: This is case sensitive.

  • Import the file with phone numbers and details with one of the following options:

      • NB: Once the file is created, please log into TNG, click on the 'General Settings' icon, login with the technical password, under the 'Data Configuration' and enable the 'Import phonebook from file' option.

Remember to click on the 'Apply Changes' button.
      • To see if import successfull, go to the Home page and click on the View logs icon:

    1. Go to the 'Phonebook' page.

Click on the 'browse' button and navigate to the 'destinations.txt' file.
Click on the 'Import Phonebook' button.
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.
