AMT 1.4 amtsweeper error "database not available" on startup

Postby John Richard Procter » Thu May 12, 2011 10:12 am

  1. Check if the database exists:
    Default install path is 'C:\Program Files\Datatex\Amethyst\data\' for 'amt.fdb'.
  2. Check if the AMETHYST configuration is correct:
    • AMTSWEEPER.INI
      [CONFIG]
      DATABASENAME=C:\Program Files\Datatex\Amethyst\Data\AMT.FDB
    • AMTSERVER.INI[DATABASE]
    PATH=gem:C:\Program Files\Datatex\amethyst\data\amt.fdb
    Please note that the PATH in AMTSERVER.ini has the PC name and colon infront of the local file
    path for the database.
  3. To make sure that the database paths was entered correct in the ini, you can copy the filepath
    in the ini to the address field of a My Computer, for example 'C:\Program Files\Datatex\Amethyst\Data'.
    It must go to the data folder, else there could be a spelling mistake in the log paths.
  4. Make sure that the database in the ini files is the same name as the actual database in the data
    folder. For example if the file extension matches, in our examples it is 'fdb'.
  5. Check if Firebird is running.
    Use the netstat -na command from the dos prompt, the Firebird port number is 3050.
  6. Firebird settings:
    START -> CONTROL PANEL -> FIREBIRD
    If the database is running, it will display "service is running".
    Check the settings:
    -Tick 'Guardian'.
    -Tick run 'as service'.
    -Tick start 'automatic'
    -Click on 'stop', then on 'start', to stop and start the service
  7. Use IBQuery to try and connect to the database.

    IBQuery is on the TOPAZ CD in the EXTRA folder. Copy the PATH value from the amtserver.ini as the file
    location and click on 'connect'. The user is 'SYSDBA' and the password is 'masterkey'. IBQuery will give
    a detailed error message. Search the internet to resolve these errors.
  8. Firebird keeps log entries. The default file locations for the 'firebird.log' is
    'C:\Program Files\Firebird\Firebird_1_5'. Search the internet to resolve these errors.
  9. Also check the AMTSERVER.log for errors.
