How is space maintained on the AMETHYST server

Postby John Richard Procter » Fri May 27, 2011 12:50 pm

The AMETHYST database is on the system drive. Recordings is
sent here via FTP

What is stored on the AMETHYST system drive?

  1. AMETHYST Database
  2. AMETHYST application logs (admin, sweeper, reject, etc.)
  3. system logs
  4. Rejected recordings
  5. Unprocessed recordings (not sweeped yet)
  6. Recordings (not sweeped succesfully and not rejected)
AMETHYST has some 'safety' features:

  1. FTP of recordings to the AMETHYST server will stop if 1 GB
or less space is left on AMETHYST system drive (DB is on this drive).
The zlb files will be in the system drive on the AMETHYST server
and in the COMPLETE folder on the cardserver/USBClient PC.
  2. Sweeper will stop if 100MB or less space on AMETHYST server.

    How is the 'space' maintained?

    • Once a recording is sweeped, the call details and notes is
stored in the database and the recording with screenshots is stored
on the exclusive drive(s). Therefore the recordings and screenshots
is moved to the exclusive drive.

Once the exclusive drive is full you need to buy extended storage or
      enable the purge functionality.

    • When archiving(daily at 21h00) the AMETHYST application logs is
also archived to the archive drive/location. Archiving makes a full
backup of the database and incremental backup of the recordings to
the archive drive. No purging/moving of calls is taking place as part
      of the archive process.

    • Once a recording has been archived you have the option to purge
it manually or using the auto purge function (which will run every
night at 24h00). These recordings wil no longer be on the 'live'
system and you need to access it from the archive drive using AMTListen.

    • Rejected recordings is kept for 5 days after recordings is made
and thereafter deleted. All unlicensed devices will be rejected. If
you use trunk side recording all calls on the selected trunks is recorded
and unlicensed devices is rejected. With USBClient and extension side
recording only the configured devices will be recorded (unless configuration
problems). Therefore trunkside recordings will have more rejected calls.
