TNGCallbarring budget display screen is blank

  • Scenario 1:

When I log into TNGCallbarring with my department head login, the budget listing screen is blank. We get power failures from time to time.

The list of extensions/user is updated to TNGCallbarring from TNG user/extension configuration. Please check in TNG that this configuration is still in place. A power failure can corrupt files.

If not in place, you will need to add the extensions/user again.

If it shows PLEASE ADD on the Call List page it means that TNG could not find the Extension Configuration for that extension number.

Please click on the 'Extension Configuration' page and check if all your extensions are still configured here. This information is sent to TNGCallBarring and the budget is linked to it there.

If you have no extensions configured or the page display is broken, then this file damaged with the power failure. You will need to update this information again.

    Steps to follow:

    • Stop the TNG service: START -> CONTROL PANEL -> ADMINISTRATIVE TOOLS -> SERVICES, click on TNG and then the 'stop' link.
    • Once the service is stopped, navigate to C:\Program Files\datatex\tng\data
    • Create a backup folder, for example the date '20111114'.
    • Move the tng extensions .dat file into the backup folder.
    • Start the TNG service.
    • Log into TNG.
    • Click on Configure Extension. It will display a blank page.
    • Now you must enter/import the extensions again.

You can create a file for this, see forum link:

How do I import extensions from a file into TNG?

If you have the file from a previous import, you can use the same file again.

    • Once extension names has been update, go to the Call List page and check if new calls now have the name configured.
    • If so, you can update the extension names to historic data:

TNG Home page, click on the SYNCHRONIZATION icon, tick Extensions and select the date range to update. Click on APPLY. Once done, it will display update successfull.

      Now your TNG is correct.

    • Log into TNGCallbarring and check extension/user budget screen.
  • Scenario 2:

To see the budget list in TNG Callbarring you need to log in with the department head login you created in TNG. To see if the department head login has the correct access, log out of TNG and log in with the department head login you used int TNG Callbarring.

Go to the Configure User/Configure Extension page (depending on your barring option) and check if all the extension are listed and for which department. If any departments missing, log out and then in as 'admin', configure the login under 'Department Head Configuration'. Click APPLY. Log out as 'admin' and log in as the department head login again. Check if all your extension are listed.

If all extension are now listed under Configure User/Extension, log into TNG Callbarring with the same department head. All your extensions/users should now be listed to make budget changes.

    If not, then:

    • communication between TNG and TNGCallbarring is blocked.

TNG is sending the User/Extension details to dtxCallBarring on TCP port 20009.
To test if TNG is sending to TCP port 20009, request the TCPServer from
support@datatex.co.za. Only TNG must be running, stop the dtxCallBarring service.

    • your extensions/users file in TNG is damage - refer to scenario 1.

  • Scenario 3:

I am logged in with the same department head in TNG Call barring that displays calls on the Call List in TNG. I tried blanking the extension configuration file(stop tng service, move tngext.dat out of data folder, start tng service), but it still does not update the 'new' extensions to TNGCallbarring.

Suggestion: Stop/start the TNGCallbarring service only.

It could be that the port was in use by some other process, the communication between tng and tngcallbarring was blocked. Also check that anti-virus software excludes the tng software and do the full scan outside office hours.
