Required:- AMETHYST agent licenses available, see
AMETHYST Webadmin -> License Agreement page, see next to 'Agents' the 'Available' value.
If not enough, you need to purchase additional AMETHYST agent licenses. Please contact Datatex Sales.
- VOIP licenses:
For VOIP recording you require a dongle to be connected to the VOIP recording server. Your initial quote will include the number of licenses. You can confirm with Datatex Sales if you have the required number of licenses.
- To configure the new extensions for recording via the web interface, you need the following versions:
- AMETHYST Webadmin version 1.6.4.2
- VOIP Recordings soft ware version [1.6.4.2]
- Information required:
- Physical extension number
- VOIP MAC address or VOIP IP address
- User name
Steps:- Make a backup of the settings:
Log onto the VoIPRecorder server.
Navigate to the folder 'C:\Program Files\datatex\VoIPRecorder.
Make a backup of the 'VoIPRecorder.ini'.
- Log into AMETHYST webadmin.
How do I log into AMETHYST webadmin and supervisor?
- Add AMETHYST license for device to be recorded:
- Click on "Configure Recorded Devices",
under the "Recording" section of the main screen (bottom-left).
- At the bottom of the screen, next to "Add new physical device",
click on the "Add" button.
- A new blank box will appear just above "Apply Changes".
Enter the persons extension into the box.
- Click on "Apply Changes".
- On the main screen, click on "Stop Sweeper",
under the "Applications" section of the main screen (top-right).
- On the main screen, click on "Start Sweeper",
under the "Applications" section of the main screen (top-right).
- Configure the User names and Extension numbers in AMETHYST webadmin under 'Configure Virtual Extensions'. See forum post : How do I configure virtual extensions in AMETHYST?
- The Supervisor you use to playback recordings must have access to the user names as configured under 'Configure Virtual Extensions'.

- Enable VOIP extension to be recorded:
- Version 1.6.4 and newer
- AMETHYST Webadmin -> Configure Cardserver/CRE
- Click on the '+' next to 'Tracking'.
- Tick 'Enabled.
- Enter the MAC or IP addresses:

In this example the MAC address was used.
- Click on APPLY to save settings.
NOTE: When you click on APPLY to save the configuration, the recording software is stopped and started. All recordings will thus be interrupted and only continue after the restart. Please schedule the configuration outside office hours for recordings.
If on amtwebadmin 1.6.4.17 or newer, first configure the extension number lookup before clicking on APPLY - see next step.
- To link the extension number to the recording device / phone, else you will have an EXT extension and blank user name.
- AMTWebadmin version 1.6.4.17 and newer:
- AMTWebadmin version before 1.6.4.17:
- Log onto the VOIP server.
- Stop the VOIPRecorder service
under START -> CONTROL PANEL -> Administrative Tools -> Services.
NOTE: When the recording software is stopped and started, all recordings will be interrupted and only continue after the restart. Please schedule the configuration outside office hours for recordings. - Navigate to the VoIPRecorder folder, for example
C:\Program Files (x86)\Datatex\VoIPRecorder - Edit the 'VOIPRecording.ini'
- In this example we use the MAC address, you may also use the VOIP IP address
In the section "[EXTENSIONMAC]"
Add the MAC address and extension number
- Code: Select all

- Start the VOIPRecorder service
under START -> CONTROL PANEL -> Administrative Tools -> Services.
- Check the log file to see:
AMETHYST Webadmin -> Configure Cardserver/CRE, click on 'View Log File'.
- if the extension has been added successfully after clicking on APPLY:

NOTE: it will not show the User name in the VoIPRecorder.log file. The user name is added as configured under 'Configure Virtual Extension' when the recording is sweeped into the database for playback with AMETHYST Supervisor.
- Older version of VOIP recording software:
- Login to the VoIPRecorder server
You will require the Windows login and password
- Go to C:\Program Files\Datatex\VoIPRecorder
(this may be C:\Program Files (x86)\Datatex\VoIPRecorder - if not 32 bit system)
- Make sure that the required MAC address is in the TRACKING section of the VoIPRecorder.ini file.
- If it's not there, add it and restart the VoIPRecorder using the Windows Services control panel.
NOTE: adding new entries to the VoIPRecorder.ini TRACKING section requires a restart of the recording software and it will stop recording the current calls. Adding new entries is best done after hours.
- Click on the "Logout" icon at the top right-hand side of the page(computer monitor with arrow coming out of it).
