It looks like TNG for Asterisk on Linux is causing high memory usage and therefore slows Asterisk down.
Suggestion:
- Upgrade to the latest version of TNG for Asterisk, version 1.0.7.6 or newer.
NOTE: You can only upgrade if you annual subscription is up to date. - Use at least 4 GIG memory to ensure that Asterisk, Linux and TNG have enough memory - so that they do not battle for resources. High memory usage can cause high CPU usage, etc.
If you still have a problem, please supply the following information to help point out the problem:
- Asterisk and Linux:
- Version of Asterisk
- OS version Asterisk is running on,
- Total memory (ram) on server
- server spec were TNG & Asterisk are running,
- What do you do so that it recovers when slow? (e.g. Stop/Start TNG deamon or restart the Asterisk box?)
NOTE: If it happens again, do not restart the server, restart TNG. Before you restart TNG, please check which processes is using the most memory and what the percentage is? - How long does it take to slow down?
- How many extensions do you have on Asterisk?
NOTE: Ensure that your Asterisk server has the required specifications for your number of users, telephone usage, etc. - TNG:
- Version of TNG.
- TNG Home page, select 'Settings' page, log in with 'tech'.
Under 'Data Configuration', check :
a) the allocation for 'Percentage of Available Memory to reserve'.
b) the setting for 'Flush to Harddrive Interval - seconds'. - Is someone logged in to TNG at the time the CPU usage is high, and if they are, whether they are on the "live" calls screen, or pulling reports.
- Are any scheduled reports configured, and for what times?
