---------------------- CRITICAL ERRORS END HERE ----------------------
Do a test connection:
- Log into AMETHYST webadmin, see forum post
How do I log into AMETHYST webadmin and supervisor? - On the AMETHYST Home page, click on the 'Configure Archive Settings' link.
Please use the 'Test Connection' button and make sure that 'Archive Type' is set to 'Harddrive' or 'NFS' or 'DUAL' (depending on which option you use with your backup).
If successfull, it will display:
Results from testing archive connection- Code: Select all
Checking backup type ... hard drive only
Mounting archive drive(s) ... OK
/dev/hda1 on /opt/amethyst/backup/hdd type vfat(rw)
Writing to hard drive ... OK
Unmounting archive driv(s)... OK
Suggestions:
- If all of this checks out OK, you can try the archive again.
Do an unscheduled archive to see if now successfull:
AMETHYST Webadmin Home page in the 'Archiving' block, click on the 'Archive Now' link. - If TEST CONNECTION unsuccessfull, check if the drive is physically connected and power up. Try the test connection again. If unsuccessfull, connect the drive to a Windows PC and see if detected. You should also be able to access the drive. If not your USB container or drive is faulty and needs to be replaced. If you can detect the drive under Windows, you can try and connect it to AMETHYST server again and do a TEST CONNECTION.
- If the TEST CONNECTION is still unsuccessfull, you will need to schedule a call out with Datatex.
