Changing PABX model: Serial to network

Postby Belinda Frick » Thu May 10, 2012 2:34 pm

Question:

I am using TOPAZ with a serial connection to the PABX and integration software for billing. I am changing from a PABX with serial connection to a network connection for call details. What configuration is required to receive call details in TOPAZ from the new PABX?

Overview:

PABX3 collects call details for TOPAZ.

It has the option to receive call data from the PABX via:
    • Serial connection - COMPORT
PABX3 -> OPTIONS -> COMMUNICATION, select serial port and baud rate
    • Network connection
PABX3 -> OPTIONS -> NETWORK, enter TCP IP and port
    • Input File
See Setting up file input on the pabx3
Only the source of your call details changed, therefore this is the only configuration change required.

NOTE: If your extension numbers and pin codes/account codes also changed it will require additional configuration in TOPAZ under the DATA configuration. See forum post - What format file can I use to import User details into Topaz
Steps:

  • Change your connection option in PABX3.
  • If you change PABX brand and/or model, you need to check if the plugin you are using will still work. Please search our forum for your PABX brand and model to find the correct plugin. If not available, please post a query with the relevant information.

How do I reselect a plugin under PABX3

NOTE:

  • To see if the call details is received from the PABX, you can enable logging of rawdata. If for example you selected the wrong plugin, it will still log the rawdata - see forum post:
Why is my rawdata not logging to file?
