TNG data importing inconsistently

Postby n3tc » Mon Feb 11, 2013 3:51 pm

Belinda,

As requested, I have registered on the forum to submit the issue and obtain further assistance.

The SMDR Link service is running and appears to be importing data, however, all the data has not been imported, and there are gaps in what data appears on the system.

  • Please log into TNG and check for me that log rawdata is set to permanent - see forum post:
How do I enable logging of rawdata?

  • Now you need to check which date ranges are missing as we need to re-import these files. Once you have the date ranges, we can continue.

  • You have 2 options to import the missing call details:
    • rawdata
    • export files

You mentioned SMDRLink has the call details. Is this running on the TNG PC? If so and it logged rawdata for the missing periods of data, we can use these files. This is the easiest option.

SMDRLink will create a folder named rawdata, see file path:
    Code: Select all
    C:\Program Files\datatex\smdrlink\rawdata\

Check if you have rawdata for the missing dates in this folder. NOTE: We need to use the rawdata files and not the '.pip' file extension.

If so you can use these files to re-import - refer to "Import rawdata" section of forum post:
    TNG call data import options

Follow the document from the entry "You need to copy the raw.txt files to the IMPORT folder: 'C:\Program Files\datatex\tng\import'".

If the rawdata files is not available, then the export files must be used. Please let me know.

The version of the TNG software installed is 1.0.6.0.
Your instructions all relate to 1.0.6.6.
How do I determine the gaps in the data?

Please could someone assist with my previous post, or alternatively, schedule a support representative to come out to site to assist with resolving the issue.

The version 1.0.6.6 only relates to re-import of rawdata. If your TNG expiry date is before 01 December 2009, you can upgrade to 1.0.6.6. There are other options to re-import call details, for example using the export files - which requires version 1.0.5.6.

How do I determine the gaps in the data?

If you go to the login page of TNG, it will show for how long it has call details in it. You can then use this to determine the oldest date in TNG. Once logged in you can go to the 'Call List' page and see the newest date. Now you have the date range for calls in TNG.

You then need to do a search under reports to see which is missing - under 'Detailed Reports' you can use the 'Transaction Detail Report'. I will suggest starting with the most current dates and work back.

Steps:
  • Confirm date ranges for missing gaps of call details.
  • Confirm TNG expiry date - see 'License Agreement Page' link on Home page.
  • Confirm if raw data files available from SMDRLink.
Once the steps has been confirmed I will suggest best solution.

I have determined the start date to be 3 Years and 9 Months ago. The end date is 25 February 2013.

However, there is no Transaction details report. See screenprint attached.

Where to from here?

Your version of TNG does not have that report option (it was introduced in version TNG Version 1.0.6.2). If you TNG expires after 22 January 2009, you can upgrade to this version.

What is your TNG expiry date?

If it expires after 22 January 2009 you can upgrade - see forum post:
Release notes TNG version 1.0.6.2

Alternatively, you can look at the export file for the day of the import (when our technician was on site) to see which ranges are missing. The export file will contain all call records that was loaded on that day. Note the the sequence of the calls will be as per file loaded in. The files will each contain a days data. It will be a manual process to check the dates to find the ranges of missing data(as it is not sequential - the transaction details report will list it by date).

Best suggestion is to upgrade your TNG to the latest version. This will include fixes for all know issues. There was issues in the earlier versions with importing of data. The latest version is 1.1.1.11(after 25 April 2012) and I would like you to be at least on version 1.0.7.6(released 17 August 2011).

To upgrade your subscription must be up to date. Your can either renew your subscription or check the expiry date and I can tell you to which version you can upgrade.
