Amethyst 1.6 Recording Cant Extract

Postby ZanePhelan » Fri Feb 22, 2013 11:31 am

Hi Support

Have another recording that due to a bios issues was recorded as year 2001 so it went straight to archive/purge and is not listed in the index to extract.

So the gsc file was manually copied from the archive drive using the file name to locate it.

Could you please convert it to a wav file?

Thanks

When you say
not listed in the index to extract.
you mean not in the archived database in AMTListen?

You cannot find it when searching in AMTListen?
Do you get an errror message?

Hi Belinda,

You cannot find the recording if searching for it...

The only way to trace the call is to check the usbclient logs, find the zlb ref and then find the recording on the archive and manually take a copy.

Unfortunately there is not a app that can convert the gsc file directly.

WIll you be able to convert it for me?

Was the zlb then manually copied to the archive drive. Why did the normal archive process not take place?

If the recording was copied to the archive drive via normal archive process it will be in the database and you should be able to find it with AMTListen. If you extract the database and the recordings is not in that date range and you find the database on older archive for the recording's date range, you can use AMTListen to decrypt it. You will then need to copy the zlb onto the older archive drive into the correct date folder.

Here is the file:
VA_148_213a90410d47f7.rar

NOTE:

The first steps of the archiving is to make a backup of the database to the archive drive and thereafter the recordings was copied to it. Auto archive starts each night at 21h00.

With the older version of AMETHYST, the archive will run until all was archived. If the archive is not completed by the next night at 21h00, it will simply continue until completed - the database is only copied when the archive initially started.

With the newer version each night at 21h00 auto archive starts. It will make a backup of the database and if the archive was not completed the next night at 21h00, it will stop the current archiving and start a new one at 21h00. This means each night a copy of the database is made.

If you load recordings into AMETHYST for a date previous to current date and time, the recording will be in the database for the next archive auto archive(unless you also do a manual archive). When you use AMTListen, you need to keep this in mind.

Thanks Belinda

Apparently the recording was archived, but you cant find it when doing a search via the amethyst web interface or via the AmtListen application.

The only way to trace the call was to go to the pc where the USBClient application is running and check the log files for the file reference. This file reference is then searched for on the archive drive after which case the recording is copied for manual extraction.

The problem has already been fixed so with some luck there will not be any more of these recordings.

Do you have a application that can be used to manually extract a gsc file?

Thanks

The archive drive on which you found the GSC file should also have the database with the recording record entry. When using AMTListen extract the database for that date folder and search for the recording in it.

The recordings is encrypted. We use AMTListen to listen to archived recordings. To access AMTListen you need to get the daily login from AMETHYST webadmin. This is for security reasons. Only persons with required access can thus listen to recordings (Supervisor or AMTListen).

We do not have an application to convert GSC files to wav. The .wav file can be listened to with any Media Player. Recordings must be accessed using AMETHYST Supervisor(live) or AMTListen(archived).

Hi Belinda,

I have another one that needs extracting... :(

So the reason this is occuring is because the pc date was set to the 28/11/2006, the recording appears to actually have taken place on the 06/06/2012. The recording is traced by checking the usbclient log files and finding the file reference.

So what happens is that as soon as the file is ftp'ed to the server it archives it that evening and then purges it from Amethyst immediately due to the day kept live setting.

Which in itself is not a problem as you could then open the database file for the 6or7/06/2012 and search for the recording.

Only problem is that the customer only keeps the database file for the 1st and 15th of every month so the database containing the recording is deleted (they do this to conserve space on the NTFS Server drives.)

So long story short, could you please also extract the attached file for me?

Thanks
