Amethyst 1.6 cardserver configuration

Postby Belinda Frick » Thu Nov 18, 2010 12:40 pm

The configuration screen for 1.6 cardservers is different to the configuration screen for 1.5
cardservers.

Options

The FTP server, FTP login and FTP password can now be configured. This is mostly for Remote Servers,
so that more secure passwords can be configured.

Phone Display controls the way the phone display messages are interpreted when using AudioRecv as a trigger.
Choose the type of PABX you have.

Channel configuration

Each channel now has a drop-down list of types, based on the card that is on the cardserver. This prevents a
non-working configuration from being used, since some channel combinations don't make sense (e.g. extension-side PRI).

The following channel types are supported:

Primary Rate ISDN trunks - can be triggered by either D-Channel or VOX
Basic Rate ISDN trunks and extensions - can be triggered by either D-Channel or VOX
Analogue trunks and extensions - can be triggered by Voltage or VOX
Analogue radios - can be triggered by VOX
Digital extensions - can be triggered by DChannel, or VOX, or Audio events, or
both D-Channel and VOX (whichever comes first to start the recording).

Audio events are supported for the following PABXs:

Alcatel 4200 / 4400

The trunk or extension number is under "Line / Ext". This uniquely identifies each channel, used mapping SMDR
data to a channel.

For cases where either the agent or customer is too soft, that side of the conversation can be amplified, and
this amplification is controlled using the gain settings. Analogue channels cannot be configured separately
for the agent and customer, and any changes will affect both sides.

SMDR required tells the cardserver that SMDR is available for this channel, and should always come through.
This allows the cardserver to generate critical warnings to the Amethyst Event Manager, for cases where SMDR
is missing or incorrect.

Set all channels for slot utility

As before, each setting can be applied to all channels on a card.

Adjusting the gain:

Each channel on NGX and DP cards has two inputs, representing the two directions of the conversation (from PABX and to PABX).
Analogue channels on LD cards have only one input. Gain is an amplification of the sound on one of the inputs on a channel.
The directions are determined by wiring, and the two inputs are represented by the names "Gain 1" and "Gain 2".

The values used are in decibels. Channels have zero dB gain by default. The maximum gain is 24 dB. To amplify one side of
the conversation, you will have to modify the gain on one of the inputs. Setting Gain too high will result in distortion.
Try starting at 18dB and going up or down in steps or 3dB or 6dB (e.g. if 18dB is too loud, try 15dB). The decibel scale is
not linear, so once you reach 21dB, you may find you have to go up in steps of 1dB at a time.

To determine which input is which, you will have to set the gain for one input relatively high (18dB or so), make a recording
with two sides to the conversation and listen to it. The input that was amplified should now be noticeably louder. If it's
the wrong one, set this one back to zero decibels, and adjust the other one.
