How does the AMETHYST supervisor time-out work?

Postby Belinda Frick » Thu Nov 18, 2010 1:00 pm

Overview:

When you open the Supervisor login page, you will be able to see who logged in last(before you enter your login and password). It will list all the Supervisor login names and the IP from where they logged in.

If any Supervisor logs in, it will check the time-out for each Supervisor and log out those who has reached their configured time-out.

If a Supervisor is logged in and you try to log in from another PC with the same Supervisor login and that session is within the time-out configured, it will not allow you to log in as that Supervisor.

If a Supervisor is logged in and you try the following from the same PC:
    • open another Supervisor to login as the same Supervisor or
    • you closed your browser without logging out of Supervisor and then open a new browser session and log in as the same Supevisor
you will be allowed to log into Supevisor.

AMETHYST Supervisor will allow you to login from the same PC as the same Supervisor(first session will be closed), but if you log in with the same Supervisor login from another PC(within the time out period) it will not be allowed. This is for security reasons.

Time out can be configured per supervisor. You have 2 options:

  • AMETHYST webadmin:

AMETHYST Webadmin -> Configure Supervisor -> enter time-out.

Click on APPLY to save changes.

  • AMETHYST Supervisor:

In AMETHYST 1.6.3 you can also personalize your Supervisor settings in AMETHYST Supervisor.

You need to log into Supervisor.
Go to the 'Personal Supervisor Settings' page.
Enter the TIMEOUT value you require. NOTE: it must be in seconds.
