What maintenance is required for TOPAZ

The following is required to ensure the smooth running of TOPAZ.

1. Backups - Where possible daily backups of all data.

Also See: How and what to backup Topaz.

2. Transaction Purging - Do not exceed more than 1 million records on the
transaction file. This can severely slow down
reports. Also do this if your system gets extremely
slow. Remember to print all your reports on
historical data.

Also See:Purging old call data
When I do a re-index on my Topaz Database it does not seem to change anything.

3. Pipe File Archiving - Do this at least once every two months or more
often on large installations. You will need the
program archiver.exe to do this. If it was not
included in your installation, download it from
our site at WWW.DATATEX.CO.ZA.

Also See: How do I archive pipe files for more information relating to this program.

4. Purge Error Logs - The error logs in both the PABX and TOPAZ programs
gather lots of information not only error specific
information. Purge these at least once every two
months. Purging will retain the 30 most recent messages
so we will still be able to pick up any recent problems.

In TOPAZ> SETUP> Running Logs>Purge Running Logs

5. Rates updates - It is the end-user's responsibilty to obtain the latest
rates from our internet site and upload them. This will
most likely change once a year. Please ensure that the
end-user is aware of this.

Also See: How do I update my TOPAZ rates.

6. PC - Make sure your PC is up to specs.

Also See: PC requirements to run Topaz
