It is always recommended to make a full system backup!

Follow these steps:

Download Firebird from the website.
[www.datatex.co.za -> downloads -> miscellaneous section]

Make a backup of your "C:\Program Files\Datatex" directory.

Make a backup of your
"C:\WINDOWS\Start Menu\Programs\Datatex Gems" directory.
